NurturMe Review: Keeping Little Tummies Happy and Healthy
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

At NurturMe, they’re all about keeping little tummies happy and healthy. From their easily digestible ancient grain meals and snacks to their nutritious fruit & veggie options, all of NurturMe’s tummy friendly foods are designed to take the worry out of feeding your little one.

For Babies 6 Months+**

THE PRODUCTS:

NurturMe’s organic tummy friendly baby and toddler foods are free* from common allergens that can upset sensitive bellies, while also helping to promote good digestive health. This means [most] their products don’t contain any gluten, dairy, soy, egg or guilt. It also means that many of them contain a daily dose of probiotics, helping your child’s tummy run optimally. In fact, just one serving delivers more immune boosting benefits than 10 cups of probiotic yogurt.

With tons of products to choose from for both babies and toddlers, you will find multiple flavors of each of the following, including their Ancient Grain Cookies (with flavors like Maple + Cinnamon), Power Blend Purees (with flavors like Mango, Guava, Quinoa), Quinoa Cereals (with flavors like Quinoa + Apple), Quinoa Squares (with flavors like Pineapple + Spinach) and Yum-a-Roo’s (with flavors like Pea + Sweet Corn + Apple).

*I want to make it clear that NurturMe is in the midst of transitioning their full product family to meet the Tummy Friendly criteria. Through this transition, to ensure you are consuming product that is free from gluten, dairy, soy and egg (and, where applicable, includes probiotics), please consult the product packaging for the most accurate information.

NUTRITION FACTS:

As mentioned above, NurturMe is in the midst of transitioning their full product family to meet the Tummy Friendly criteria. However, most of their products are already free from gluten, dairy, soy and egg (and, where applicable, include probiotics). They are also Certified Organic and Kosher, Gluten-free, Non-GMO and are free from added sugars, preservatives and artificial flavorings.

With all of their products containing Ancient Grains, you can be certain that your kids are getting superior nutritional benefits compared to traditional rice, and other grain-filled cereals and snacks. Some of the benefits you’ll find in Ancient Grains include:

  • They are naturally hypoallergenic
  • Contain complete proteins with all essential and non-essential amino acids
  • Natural choline for brain development
  • Lysine and minerals help the body absorb calcium, build muscle and strong bones
  • Omega 3, 6, 9 fatty acids for brain and eye development
  • Natural fiber that acts as a prebiotic to assist with digestion
  • Active antioxidants for a strong immune system

And what about the probiotics?

To start, probiotics are live, active, good bacteria that can aid infants and toddlers to create a healthy colony of bacteria and microbes within their gastrointestinal systems. While there are many factors that can negatively affect the natural bacteria and digestive development of infants and toddlers, including if a baby is bottle fed, delivered via C-section or has to be put on antibiotics, all babies are actually born with sterile digestive tracts and must work to build beneficial bacteria and create a healthy microbiome. Using a proven probiotic strain like GanedenBC30 (Bacillus coagulans GBI-30, 6086) that is found in NurturMe products, can aid infants & toddlers in this process.

Furthermore, probiotics are transient, meaning that they do not stay permanently in the digestive system and must be taken daily to provide health benefits. The GanedenBC30 that is found in NurturMe’s products has been tested and proven safe for up to 94 times the necessary daily intake without any adverse effects. This means that your children can eat as much of their foods as they want and you don’t have to worry about “overdosing” on probiotics.

Which products contain probiotics? All of their ancient grain-based cereals and snacks are fortified with a daily recommended dose of probiotics including their Organic Quinoa Baby Cereals, 100% Quinoa Squares and Ancient Grain Cookies.

**NurturMe has specifically designed various lines for infants and toddlers of all ages, once they are at the solid-eating stage. As a Nutritionist, I believe that babies should not be given solids before the age of 6 months, but it is best to consult your physician on this information. In regards to allergies, all of NurturMe’s products are vegan friendly, with the exception of their Cheddar and Broccoli Quinoa Squares, their honey flavored Ancient Grain Cookies, and their cocoa flavored Ancient Grain Cookies. The Cheddar and Broccoli Quinoa Squares have been discontinued from their line as part of their Tummy Friendly initiative. Beginning spring 2017, this particular flavor will be phased out of NurturMe’s product lineup online and in stores.

WHERE TO BUY:

You can purchase NurturMe’s products directly from their Online Store, at Vitacost.com (where you can receive $5 off your first order), or to find the retail location nearest you, please visit their Store Locator.

FINAL THOUGHTS:

As Moms of young children, I feel that we have enough things to worry about without having to dissect the labels of every food we feed our kids. From artificial flavors and colorings to boatloads of sugars, dairy and/or gluten, it seems like many products contain ingredients that really aren’t great for kids – especially if they have allergies.

This is one of the reasons I have come to love – and recommend – NurturMe’s snacks and cereals to friends and clients! Filled with Ancient Grains and containing probiotics, these foods truly are tummy friendly – something which both of my kids definitely need J.

Plus, their products taste great, even for adults! The first time my husband discovered them in our pantry he ate half the box [of cookies] before I could stop him. I then had to hide them so that the kids would have a before bedtime treat for the next couple days without me having to run to the store again!

Looking for some tasty and tummy friendly cereals, snacks and treats to feed your kids – and maybe your husband?! Then look no further than NurturMe!
