Three Steps to Getting More in Tune with Your Body

how to get more in tune with your body

If you are looking to optimize your health and become an overall better you, then you need to understand a variety of things about your body including energy levels, hormones, stamina, and appetite. When you understand and can pay close attention to these things, then it will help you  give your body what it needs in order to truly thrive. If you are somewhat out of touch with your body, as can so often be the case, then it can lead to a range of things that can impact your health, such as inflammation, lack of sleep, stress, and overeating.

If you want to take care of your health and make sure that the workouts you do aren’t wasted, then paying more attention to your body is something that will definitely benefit you. This can all take a lot of time, but the good news is that there is help out there if you need it. For example, you can send off for a kit from Dynamic DNA Laboratories that will analyze your DNA, ultimately leading you to better understand your body.

Such testing could not only help you to improve your workouts but also help inform you about the foods that you eat and how your body reacts to them. Here are three tips that you could use in order to boost how attentive you are to your body and to help you to get further in tune with yourself.

1) Make a Note of Anything New

Our bodies change periodically, especially when we are faced with particular situations. For instance, an increase in acne could be a sign of something hormonal or perhaps due to feeling more stressed. If you notice something that is going on with your body that isn’t quite normal, then make a note of it. There could be things that you can do to improve it, or it may just be a case of monitoring it and seeing if it happens again (such as an increase in breakouts near your period, for instance). The more you know what is normal for you, the better you can be at being in tune with your body.

2) Properly Stretch After Exercise

It is so important to make sure that you give your body the love that it needs after exercising. After working out, our bodies need to recover in order to gain strength, as well as reduce the risk of injury. There are some standard stretches that you most likely know to do, but going further and taking a yoga class, or investing in a foam roller, are highly suggested here too. It is important to listen to your body so that you can give it the workout that is needed, as well as to know when it is time to rest and recover.

3) Pay Attention to Feelings When Eating

We lead busy lives and can often be found rushing off to do things, oftentimes snacking on the go or in a car. But this can lead to some unhealthy habits. Instead, think about being more mindful when you eat and focusing on how you feel as you eat. If you feel full, stop eating. If you keep going and going, then it is a good idea to find an alternative thing to do, like taking a walk or even calling a friend to keep your body healthy and to reduce overeating.
