NUTRITION-WISE: Made with 100% non-GMO ingredients, This Bar Saves Lives makes it a point to also use organic ingredients whenever possible. However, since many of the premium ingredients they use are difficult to source and prohibitively expensive in organic form [and they give away a packet of life-saving food for each bar sold], and the fact that they want to make sure their bars are actually affordable to buy, they can’t claim to be 100% organic. This Bar Saves Lives is 100% vegetarian and does not contain any dairy. However, 2 of the 3 bars do contain a small amount of honey, so they cannot be considered vegan. So for those who are especially susceptible to gluten, it is best to be aware of this.
Coming in around 180 to 200 calories per bar, 60 to 100 of which are from healthy fats, you will also find 4-6 grams of protein, roughly 3 grams of fiber, and 10-16 grams of sugar per serving. And while this is a bit more sugar than I am generally wanting to eat in one sitting (or feed my little guy for that matter), it’s a whole heck of a lot better than the other snack foods that are out there. Plus, if you are anything like me and like to snack on bits and pieces throughout the day, than the sugar intake really isn’t enough to gawk at.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Being a mom and having my own family, I will admit that I can get wrapped up in our own needs, worrying about what I am feeding them today, tomorrow, and sometimes even next week. However, there are many children around the world who truly don’t know where their next meal is coming from and if they will have anything at all to eat in the upcoming days. This truly breaks my heart and makes me think about what I can do now to help those in need.
