About half the size of ordinary popcorn, Pipcorn’s kernels are much more delicate – and therefore easier to eat – than your every day popcorn, and comes in some pretty scrumptious flavors too!
For Moms, Moms-to-be and Toddlers 18 Months+*
THE PRODUCTS:
About half the size of ordinary popcorn, Pipcorn is made from a special variety of corn grown right here in the US of A. The hulls on their kernels are also much more delicate than ordinary kernels, meaning that the shells break up into such small pieces when popped that you won’t get those big hard pieces stuck in your teeth as often! Some also say that their kernels are easier to digest (although they can’t claim that).
Gluten-free and made without butter (except for the Ghee flavor), Pipcorn is not genetically modified and is 100% whole grain.
Available in multiple flavors, including: Truffle, Kettle, Cheddar, Ghee, Sea Salt & Vinegar, Rosemary & Sea Salt, you are sure to find a Pipcorn that you [almost] always will want to snack on!
NUTRITION FACTS:
Gluten Free, Whole Grain, and Non-GMO certified, Pipcorn is not currently Kosher, but they are working on it, so stay tuned! Moreover, all their flavors are certified Vegan except their Ghee Flavor (where they use real organic butter). Plus, Ghee is lactose and casein-free – so basically it’s “better for you butter”.
Coming in at around 120 calories per 2.5 cup serving, 50 of which are from healthy fats, you will also find around 2-3 grams of protein, 4-5 grams of fiber, and 1-4 grams of sugar, depending on which flavor you choose.
*Although Pipcorn is known for their softer hulls and easier to digest kernels, I would still be careful when giving it to my young toddler. With that said, I felt fine giving it to my 18 month old, who I would also give almonds, so it’s really up to you and what your pediatrician has to say about the whole matter – so ask them!
WHERE TO BUY:You can purchase Pipcorn directly from their Online Store, or at major retailers & independent health stores nationwide (click HERE to find the one nearest you).
FINAL THOUGHTS:
Being a kid during the “movie theater popcorn” era, I never thought of popcorn as a “health food”. And then, learning about GMO’s and how corn is one of the main culprits, it took awhile for me to believe that popcorn could be anything but a bad snack.
Thankfully, I was able to do my research over the years and have come to find some pretty great popcorn brands. However, most of them would still get stuck in my teeth and remind me of why I was never a big popcorn fan in the first place. That is until I discovered Pipcorn and their tiny little kernelled corn. Available in 7 yummy flavors, 6 of which are Vegan, it’s nice to be able to offer my kids and friends snacks that I want to eat as well!
