Ever since first trying Coconut Butter, I was hooked. From the creamy texture and tropical aroma, to the slightly sweet taste and rich finish, it really is good on – and with – pretty much anything! Then try adding flavors that make it taste like Vanilla Cake Batter and Dark Chocolate Fudge, and I could eat it straight out of the jar! Now thanks to Nikki’s Coconut Butter, I do!

THE PRODUCTS:
Let’s start off with, what is Coconut Butter?
Coconut butter is a spread made from the meat of the coconut, much in the same way peanuts are used to make peanut butter. And just like coconut oil, coconut butter has some amazing health benefits, and is why it is often referred to as a superfood. (Read more about coconuts and weightloss, here).
But what really makes coconut butter so sought after is the flavor. Coconuts, have a great natural sweetness that makes eating coconut butter feel like eating dessert.
And that’s where Nikki’s Coconut Butters step in. Thanks to the natural sweetness of coconuts, mixed with the tiny amount of organic coconut sugar (or maple syrup) used in each jar, and then coupled with additions like tree nuts, organic cacao powder, and other healthy ingredients (depending on one of the 4 flavors you choose), Nikki’s Coconut Butters truly are like a delectable dessert, but without all of the guilt!
Available in Vanilla Cake Batter, Honey Pecan Pie, Dark Chocolate Fudge and Pumpkin Spiced Donut, Nikki’s Coconut Butters taste great in coffee or a smoothie, on your morning toast or waffles, or even straight out of the jar (which is probably my favorite way to eat it J).
NUTRITION-FACTS:
Nikki’s Coconut Butter is Paleo, Organic (although not officially certified because not every ingredient is), and is non-GMO. It is also Vegan, Soy-Free, Dairy-Free, Egg-Free and Gluten-Free. In fact, the only known allergens that are contained within Nikki’s Coconut Butter are nuts and coconut. I will mention that the Vanilla Cake Batter does not actually contain any nuts itself, although it is produced in the same facility and equipment as their other nut-based coconut butters.
Now in regards to the health benefits of coconut butter: yes, coconut butter has essentially the same “DNA” as coconut oil does, and therefore the same beneficial properties. (To learn more about how Coconut Oil can “fight fat”, check out THIS ARTICLE). The main difference between coconut oil and coconut butter is how it is used. Coconut oil is mainly used in cooking as a substitute for olive oil, butter, or other cooking oils. Coconut butter, on the other-hand, is more of a condiment, spread, or baking ingredient that is used in place of foods like almond butter or peanut butter.
*Although there is no (serious) reason that a child younger than 2-years old should eat Nikki’s Coconut Butter, I personally believe that the first couple years of a child’s life shapes their taste buds and how they are going to eat for the rest of there lives, believing that sugar and sweet foods are not something that should be introduced if not totally necessary. However, a couple bites every now and again is fine, but only as a very occasional treat. I rather have my young toddler enjoy the taste of regular coconut butter – and save the sweet stuff for myself, anyway [wink, wink ;)].
THE PRICE:
$12.99 per jar. Also available in 5 or 10-jar sample packs.
WHERE TO BUY:
You can purchase Nikki’s Coconut Butter via their Online Store, or use their Store Locator to find the natural grocer nearest you.
FINAL THOUGHTS:
It’s no surprise that I am a huge coconut fan. (Just check out my recipes and you’ll almost always see some sort of coconut product used – generally coconut oil [although I offer substitutions too J]). So give me a coconut-based product and I am bound to at least try it! With that said, I’m also pretty picky in this department since I do eat them so often – and therefore know what good tastes like.
Well, I’ve got to admit that coconut butter is one of my favorite coconut products – with Nikki’s Coconut Butter being no exception! Taking your traditional, slightly sweet, creamy coconut butter and adding a tiny bit of coconut sugar or maple syrup, and then mixing in some delicious nuts, spices, etc. to literally make them taste like their namesakes (ie, Vanilla Cake Batter or Honey Pecan Pie), there’s no way you won’t like the taste of these condiments! I mean, it’s literally like eating a healthy dessert without all of the guilt! Plus, you can do it straight out of the jar! Yes and yes!!
Now add to that the fact that all of their flavors are Paleo, Gluten-free, [mostly] Organic, and non-GMO, and you can put it in or on pretty much anything, and Nikki’s Coconut Butter is definitely considered a win-win in my book!
So go ahead and try one – or all – of their flavors today, because it’s those small steps that make healthy living a lifestyle, so why not take one now?!
