With so many dairy-free milk options available these days, it can be hard to decipher between them all, and to know which one is going to work best for you and your dietary needs and tastes. One of the newest to the markets: Flaxseed Milk. It may sound a bit odd, but I must admit that I am pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoy it!
For Moms, Moms-To-Be and Toddlers 1 Year+*,
THE PRODUCT:
Good Karma’s Flaxseed Milk and Yogurts have put a new spin on dairy-free milk and yogurt options. Made with cold-pressed flaxseed oil, it’s a delicious and rich source of Omega-3 healthy fats without a ton of calories. Versatile, creamy, fresh, and free of major allergens, Good Karma’s products are also non-GMO Verified, and do not contain any artificial colors, flavors or sweeteners.
With their Flaxmilk available in a variety of Sweetened, Unsweetened and +Protein flavors, you can also buy them in Half Gallons, Quarts, Single-Serve Bottles and Lunchbox Cartons. Good Karma even offers Dairy-Free Flax Milk Yogurts and Drinkable Yogurt, as well. With a rich, creamy texture and up to 7 live and active cultures, they also contain Omega-3 healthy fats and 5-6 grams of plant-based protein so you can get your fill of delicious, nutritious and allergen-friendly yogurt whenever the craving strikes.
NUTRITION-WISE:
As mentioned, Good Karma’s products are all free of the most common allergens, including: Dairy, Lactose, Nuts, Soy, Gluten, Eggs, Fish and Shellfish. They are also free of any animal by-products, making them a great option for vegan diets, and are non-GMO Certified and Kosher certified by Orthodox Union (Circle U), as well.
Made with cold-pressed flaxseed oil, in order to preserve the nutrients, all of Good Karma’s products contain a healthy dose of [ALA] Omega fats, as well as a nice dose of protein. Their Yogurt and Probiotic Cultured Flaxmilk Beverages also contain billions of live and active cultures – which are great for gut-health! Furthermore, their products are available in both Sweetened and Unsweetened Varieties, so if you are watching your sugar intake (which I believe most of us should be doing), then they’ve got you covered as well!
*According to Peditricians, your young toddler should avoid dairy products until at least 1-year of age. However, I generally take this further, since I believe that the majority of children – and even adults for that matter – have some sort of intolerance to dairy products and do best to avoid them altogether. That is why I love the fact that there are so many dairy-free options available these days, especially ones that are unsweetened! Both Good Karma’s Flaxseed Milks and Yogurts are a great way to get some more healthy Omega-3s into your child’s life, but please go for the Unsweetened varieties, since young kids really should avoid added sugars as much as possible.
THE COMPANY:
Loren, Good Karma’s founder, learned early on that whatever positive or negative actions he put into the world came back around. The more he radiated goodness, the more others in his community were inspired to find goodness within themselves. With that notion, a tiny flaxseed, and his passion for a healthy lifestyle, a new household staple was born – Good Karma Flaxmilk. Since then, Loren and the rest of the Good Karma team have set out on a mission towards goodness.
And now, Good Karma isn’t just their name: it’s the inspiration for everything they do. “The rippling effect of relatable and meaningful acts of goodness starts with small drops of positive energy that [we] aim to inspire — not only as a brand, but also as people with good hearts. It is time to sow the seeds of positivity in a world that has come to expect the opposite in everyday interactions.”

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Since neither my kids nor I drink dairy milk, I’m always on the hunt for the “next best thing”, or to find options that work better in different scenarios: ie, in cereal, to froth in my coffee, etc. And while no milk is the perfect answer for it all, I have to admit that Good Karma’s Flaxseed Milk does a great job at satisfying that creamy milky taste – without the bellyaches that are sure to ensue.
Available in multiple flavors, with the Unsweetened varieties [always] being my go-to, I was pleasantly surprised when trying Good Karma’s Flaxmilk due to the rich and creamy taste, yet without all of the sugars and other “stuff” that a lot of dairy-free milks contain (including carrageenan). My kids loved them too and the fact that they contain a healthy serving of Omega-3s, as well as protein and other vitamins and minerals, means I’m definitely keeping Flaxmilk on my radar as a new go-to for dairy-free milk! Because it’s those small steps that make healthy living a lifestyle, so why not take one today?!
