Nesting, Decorating & Working Out while Pregnant

Nesting is a real syndrome and it’s hit me hard! Hahaha. Ok, so it’s not a “syndrome” – per se – but it is a real thing that us pregnant women have to deal with and can cause us to go pretty crazy at times! This includes everything from waking up at 4am to arrange files, to washing, folding and organizing (by color) all of the soon-to-be baby’s onesies and blankets, and even finding the need to cleanout my bathroom cabinets and categorize my large stack of gift bags. And while yes, all of this is productive and stuff that probably needs to be done eventually – it doesn’t need to affect my sleep or make me anxious – but it most definitely does!

I’ve also been in the mood to decorate the nursery – which isn’t a bad thing since baby will most likely be here in the next 3 weeks, or less! The theme I’ve chosen for our baby girl: Unicorns. This was partly due to the fact that my older daughter loves unicorns too, so I figured that eventually they will share a room and can compile all of their unicorn items together. I also love the colors that unicorns tend to come in – again, because my older daughter’s baby decorations had a lot of these colors, so I can reuse/repurpose a lot of her baby décor, saving me both time and money. (A #winwin for sure!) The main colors I’m using: aqua, violet and grey – although there are hints of pinks in there as well.

Speaking of grey, I received the coolest (literally!) grey, cloud-patterned baby mattress from Newton Baby recently, and cannot wait to use it with baby girl! Made using Breathe-Thru Technology, I don’t have to worry if baby rolls over and/or falls asleep on her stomach – head down – because she can literally still breathe right through the mattress! This drastically reduces the risk of suffocation, and therefore a parent’s anxiety – which tends to be ridiculously high when a baby sleeps (although this is when us moms need to sleep the most – the irony, I know)! You can read all about the mattress in my review, or go directly to their website for more info, as well.

I also wanted to quickly cover working out while pregnant in this post: although I plan on dedicating [at least] one other full post to it since there’s a lot of info that needs covering here. As you most likely know by now, I am a huge believer in working out and think that everybody needs to schedule it in there day to not only feel better physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. As a Pilates Instructor myself, as well as a Personal Trainer, I am still teaching numerous days a week – even though I am 35 weeks pregnant [and told myself that I’d be done by August 1st]. In reality, I just can’t seem to give it up and think that as long as I feel good and am not “over-doing” it, I will try to hold out until the day baby comes – as long as that’s not in the studio! Hahaha.

And while I know that working out while pregnant – or even in general for that matter – can be hard to commit to or find the motivation to do, it is sooo worth it after the fact, and I can assure you that you will not regret taking those extra 30-60 minutes to do something good for yourself, both inside and out! Just remember to take it easy, if you are pregnant, and not try anything new or push yourself too hard. However, if you worked out a ton before getting pregnant, you can by all means keep it up throughout, applying modifications where you have to. This will not only help you move easier, sleep better, and just have a better attitude overall, it should also make your pregnancy and delivery that much less demanding/difficult – something no women would want to argue with! [Oh, and if you need some comfortable shoes to wear during pregnancy, check out this link!]

Well that’s all I’ve got for now, but stay tuned for more insights into my pregnancy, nursery and baby (once she arrives) – all coming soon!

As always, thanks so much for following along with me on my Motherhood journey, and please, if you have friends and/or colleagues who you think would love this info as much as you do, SHARE this Blog and Newsletter with them.
