with Boboli Crusts
This post is sponsored by Boboli®. All opinions are my own.
You know I am all about a good theme, and I love an excuse to make a creative and festive dish. However, now that I’m a mom to 4, and time is tighter than ever, it’s often hard to fit it in – and unfortunately, my themed foods don’t happen nearly as much as I’d like!
When it comes to Halloween though, I can’t let the Holiday pass without at least some kind of spooky-inspired dish, and that is why I wanted to turn my fun Halloween creations into a family affair – so we could all have fun creating and eating, together! And what better way to cater to everyone’s tastes than with a design your own pizza party?!
With respect to time – and being short on it, as always – I’m so happy to have had these Boboli Crusts on hand so prep time is easy – and the meal is goooood! Who’s ready to join us?!
Prep Hint:
Before getting your kids involved, unless they are older and able to help cut, I suggest prepping all of your veggies and toppings ahead of time so you can just create and bake! Trust me on this! Once they see the pizza crusts, they’ll be expecting to eat them ASAP, and who wants to deal with hungry kids for too long?! Haha
To Prepare the Crusts:
I used Boboli’s Pizza Crusts, one 12” and two 8” crusts, as the bases which made the whole process go that much easier. After taking them out of the package, we brushed them with some EVOO and put a light layer of tomato sauce on top.
And now for the fun part!
Pizza #1, Jack O’ Lantern:
For our first pizza, we created a giant Jack O’ Lantern. We used shredded Cheddar (orange) Vegan Cheese for the body and a Basil leaf for the stem. We then added bell pepper triangles for the eyes and then cut bell pepper strips for the mouth and nose. I also cut many triangles for the teeth.
Pizza #2, Mummy Pizza:
We also created a Mummy-inspired pizza with strips of cheese and vegan-based meat for the “body”, along with some candy eyes to give it the full effect. All you have to do is randomly crisscross the cheese on the bottom, a little bit of the meat on top of the cheese, and you are ready to bake!
Be sure to not add the eyes until after they are baked because they will melt!
Pizza #3, Spider Web Pizza:
Finally, we created a spooky Spider Web Pizza, complete with olive spiders and an extra sprinkling of Mozzarella cheese on top – because who doesn’t like extra cheese?!
To make the spiders, I cut black olives in half width-wise for the head and then length-wise for the torso. I then cut little strips for the legs and let the kids create them how they deemed fit!
Ready to make your own Halloween-inspired pizzas?! There is no one right way to do it – just make sure you let the kids get involved and have some fun!
And as a personal side note: this activity was made so much easier thanks to the Boboli Crusts I bought at Walmart! Available in both 8” and 12” sizes, they don’t need to be refrigerated before use, so you can always have them on hand if and when the urge for pizza arises!
Happy Halloween!
