Health checks are important, however, when it comes to checking your health, people often make mistakes and therefore don’t check the right things. We want to shed some light on the most common mistakes people make when checking their health. Why? Because what is more important than your health? Keep reading for more!

1) You Are Not Checking Your Hba1c Levels

People with diabetes typically have high blood sugar levels, which can damage the body over time. One way to measure the long-term control of blood sugar is by checking your HbA1c levels. This measures how much glucose has been attached to your red blood cells over the past two to three months. The higher your HbA1c levels are, the more damage has been done to your body. You should aim for an HbA1c level of below 7%. If you are not sure what your levels are, ask your doctor or diabetes educator to test them for you. When you check your HbA1c levels with a test as well as your whole blood sugar levels, you can control your blood sugar more effectively. This will make sure that you are not putting your body at risk for long-term damage and health problems.

2) You Are Not Checking Your Blood Pressure

High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is a common issue that can lead to serious health issues if it is not treated. Nearly one-third of American adults have high blood pressure, which means that they are at an increased risk for heart disease, stroke, and other health concerns. You can check your blood pressure at home by using a blood pressure monitor. Make sure to take your blood pressure readings at the same time every day and record them so that you can track your progress. If your blood pressure is high, talk to your doctor about ways to lower it. This will make sure that you are putting your body at risk for long-term damage and health problems.

3) You Are Not Getting Screened for Colorectal Cancer

Colorectal cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in America. However, if people get screened regularly then the number of deaths from this cancer can be reduced. The most common way to screen for colorectal cancer is by having a colonoscopy. This is a procedure in which a doctor looks inside your rectum and colon with a special scope. If any polyps or cancers are found, they can be removed during the colonoscopy. You should get screened for colorectal cancer starting at age 50, or earlier if you have risk factors such as a family history of the disease. When you get screened regularly, you can catch colorectal cancer early, when it is easier to treat.

4) You Are Not Checking Your Mental Health

Mental health is just as important as physical health, yet many people do not check their mental health regularly. This can be a big mistake, as mental health problems can lead to serious health problems if they are not treated. The most common mental health problems are depression, anxiety, and bipolar disorder. All of these conditions can be treated with medication and/or therapy. If you are experiencing any symptoms of a mental health issue, talk to your doctor about getting help. When you get treatment for your mental health problems, you will be putting your body at less risk for long-term damage and health problems.

5) You Are Not Checking Your Vitamin D Levels

Vitamin D is an essential nutrient that can have a big impact on your health. One way to check your vitamin D levels is by getting a blood test. If your levels are low, you may need to take supplements or make changes to your diet. Vitamin D is important for keeping bones healthy, and it may also play a role in preventing cancer, heart disease, and other health problems. When you have low vitamin D levels, you will have to work harder to keep your body healthy. Make sure to get your vitamin D levels checked regularly and take steps to boost your levels if they are low.

6) You Are Not Getting a Regular STD Screening

Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) such as chlamydia, syphilis, HIV, and HPV are very common. It is essential to get screened for STDs on a regular basis, especially if you are sexually active.  There are a number of reasons why you should get screened for STDs on a regular basis. First, many STDs do not have any symptoms. This means that you could have an STD and not even know it. If you are not screened regularly, you may not catch the disease until it is too late. Second, many STDs can be treated easily if they are caught early. If you do not get screened for STDs, you may not know that you have a disease, and it may progress to a more serious stage.

7) You Are Not Getting Enough Exercise

Exercise is an important part of a healthy lifestyle, yet many people do not get enough exercise. This can be a big mistake, as lack of exercise can lead to a number of health problems. Exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and cancer. It can also help you maintain a healthy weight and reduce stress levels. The best way to get the most benefits from exercise is to get at least 30 minutes of moderate exercise most days of the week. If you do not get enough exercise, your body will suffer from poor health over time. Make sure that you take steps to be active on a regular basis and this will help improve your health.

8) You Are Not Eating a Healthy Diet

A healthy diet is a significant part of a healthy lifestyle. Many people do not eat a healthy diet, which can lead to a number of health problems. A healthy diet includes plenty of fruits and vegetables, lean protein, and whole grains. It is also important to limit processed foods, sugar, and saturated fat. When you eat a healthy diet, you will be putting your body at less risk for health problems such as heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. Make sure to make healthy eating a priority in your life, and you will be on the road to better health.

When people are trying to take care of their health, there are many mistakes that they can make. Here, we have looked at the eight most common mistakes people make when it comes to checking their health. If you notice that you are making any of these mistakes, make a change today and start taking better care of yourself. Your body will thank you for it!
