What You Should (and Shouldn’t) Do After Rebonding Your Hair

Just as every person is unique, every person’s hair is also unique thanks to the different textures and hair types that are possible. Even though hair is a very important aspect of one’s beauty routine, interestingly, women are known to pay more attention to their hair than males generally are since women are more adventurous and experimental with their hair.

Speaking of hair types, women with coarse hair generally have a thicker hair circumference and therefore often utilize chemicals to relax their hair. This is because the process of rebonding gives the hair permission to take on new shapes.

However, there are Dos and Don’t’s that must be followed when applying chemicals to your hair – that is if you don’t want to totally destroy it!

Double-Check your Chemical Product

Whether you’re setting your hair, wearing a ponytail, hair extension, or just plaiting it, the whole idea behind relaxing is to showcase your hair. Equally important is the quality of the chemical you apply to your hair. It’s very important to verify that all the content of the packaged chemicals are products that would not do more harm than good to your hair. This advice applies to the menfolk who also make use of chemicals for their hair.

Shower Caps and Hair Bonnets

Almost every woman has one of these in her possession. The use of shower caps ensures that the hair is safe and water cannot penetrate even when taking a shower. Apart from that, hair bonnets serve as a protective covering, that shields the hairstyle from getting rough. It’s a fancy way of making sure that you don’t become an everyday guest in your salon.

Additional Chemicals

Applying additional chemicals to your hair immediately after rebonding is a recipe to become bald! The process of rebonding for some people makes them lose some hair, especially when they do not utilize quality products. The idea behind immediate hair coloring or tinting should be abandoned; professional hairstylists at www.instraight.com have more detailed information on other precautions.

Adding other chemicals to a freshly rebonded hair makes the hair weak. This makes it susceptible to breakage and other hair issues that can emanate as a result of too many reacting chemicals. Additionally, the process of rebonding must be timed according to the instructions stated on the package chemicals. This time should not be ignored as the scalp might get damaged.

Regular Oiling

Oiling your hair lightly is very important as the hair scalp must not be dry. This does not give the license for you to over-burden your scalp with tons of oil. Again, oils applied on the hair must be from good quality products.

Professional Stylist

Get yourself to a professional stylist whenever you want to rebond your hair. Don’t let the ‘DIY’ idea get in your way of good judgement. Besides, these chemicals are not hand-friendly and washing them on your own might not get it entirely out of your hair. Further, most of the hair chemicals that exist are not eye-friendly either. Fort these reasons it’s best to avoid any mistakes and stick with a trained stylist whenever you’re adding any form of chemical to your hair.

Washing

Cleanliness is next to godliness is definitely true but please don’t over wash your hair. Anything above three times per week is excessive and might harm it. This is especially true if your shampoo is of cheap quality or made up of harsh products. This is another reason why it’s important to buy a shampoo and conditioner that can help revitalize your hair and is free of any chemicals.

Be Careful When Brushing

Your hair is not a wig or hair extension, so never use a harsh brush on it. Some people even go the extra mile of using hard brushes to comb out their hair. You honestly should go to the barber and get a haircut if you’re trying to lose some hair. When trying to get rid of knots, a large wide tooth comb is usually sufficient enough to pass through your strands. Or, if you do insist on using a brush, please be gentle!

Heat

It’s almost impossible to do without hair straighteners and hair dryers in this day and age. However, caution should be applied, as anything with heat should be avoided after the rebonding process. This is because constant heating of your hair might lead to it thinning out. Besides, chemicals and heat are not always a good combination, so you should definitely avoid any form of heat immediately after the chemical process.

The Rebonding process requires great care as any little mistake might damage the recipient’s hair. It is also important for you to purchase the appropriate kind of chemical for your hair. This is because some chemicals are made for those who have thick and stubborn hair types so if this isn’t you, it will most likely be too harsh.
