January 24th Newsletter
With it being a new decade and all [yeah, I was always a math-geek (a fact you probably didn’t know about me), so I still like to say that], now more than ever it seems like the world is focused on change and how we can improve our health, our work, our lives…
From eating healthier and exercising more to cutting down on clutter and unnecessary activities, the New Year often brings focus on what we should/could change – but what about the why?! It’s kind of jumping the gun to cover up a gushing faucet if you don’t first turn off the water, don’t you think? The issue will never truly get fixed! The same can be said if you make all these grandiose resolutions if you don’t get down to the root cause of why they need to be fixed in the first place!
Looking intrinsically can really do wonders on all aspects of your life and help you to discover what is most meaningful to you. That is why I have made it my mission to have more quiet time this year, to truly think about my day-to-day activities and actions, to schedule in self-care, and to enjoy being in the moment (and not thinking about the other 100+ things I should/could/would be doing). And all of these changes stem from my why: my children and family. They are the reason I work hard, the reason I want to be as healthy as possible, and the reason I want to stay sane and sweet (and not overworked and bitchy).
So with that said, why am I going to go crazy working when I’m just doing it for my kids anyway? Why am I going to get stressed out and short-tempered towards my kids when I’m doing this for them? Is it worth it? It really makes me think… and hopefully will do the same for you! Not to say I don’t want to work hard and that I won’t get stressed – because I do and will! – but rather, to dedicate each moment to a specific task so I can be more productive in those moments, and then less stressed and more present in the rest of the time I have.
Whether you want to be healthier for your kids, because you love to play sports, you enjoy dancing with your partner, you enjoy traveling, or something similar, think of your WHY and I promise you that with this in mind, your goals will seem all the more worth working hard for! They will also be more sustainable for the long-term and will make healthy living part of your lifestyle – not just a fad! (Here’s another recent blog post I wrote about 4 Ways to Create a Sustainable Healthy Diet + a cool infographic from University of Southern California).
And as I mentioned in my last Newsletter, one of the best ways to achieve something is to find an accountability partner, so do that! And when it comes to all things health and nutrition-related, I am that girl! Let me help you become the healthiest and happiest version of yourself – because you deserve it!
