Juggling life as a busy mom can be hard. Moms can be found to carry the brunt of the load when it comes to running the household and parenting too. But that doesn’t mean you should neglect yourself!
Sometimes that’s easier said than done though, isn’t it? With our plates full of balancing different things from work, to school runs, to kids social and extracurricular activities there isn’t a whole lot of time left over for ourselves. But you know that old saying, ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’ – well, it applies here too! We can’t keep giving if we aren’t refilling our own cups, can we?
With that said, here are some ways we can take care of our own mental and physical well-being so we can be the best version [of ourselves] for our family, as well!
Exercise:
The benefits of exercise are known to be vast and are beneficial to not only our physical health, but our mental health too! You don’t even need to visit a gym to work exercise into your day. Simply getting out and going for a walk or chasing your kids around the park works! Or how about taking your kids for a quick jog with you? Getting the whole family involved in getting fitter and healthier is such a great idea! This way you get to spend time together doing something fun, you set a good example by showing them the importance of exercise, and you get to fit in some extra exercise into your daily routine as well.
Self-Care:
What exactly do ‘they’ mean by self-care, anyway? Self-care is simply taking some time for yourself to do something that is beneficial to your wellbeing. It doesn’t have to be expensive or even extravagant but something that helps you feel more rested and rejuvenated.
This can be as simple as making it an early night [if you can]. Reading a book or taking a stroll by yourself works too. Some people may find they need a bit more and prefer to book themselves into a spa or a hotel for a night. You could even opt for treatments like facial or plastic surgery procedures (which you can find if you click here). Whatever works best for you in helping you regain control and feel your best is a good way of indulging in some self-care.
Want to make it a daily thing? How about adding a little bit of meditation into your life? Simply taking 10 minutes before you go to bed to relax and unwind your mind and release the stresses of the day is a phenomenal way to ease you into sleep and get you ready for the rest of your week.
Taking care of one’s health is also a form of self-care. Women who are prone to urinary diseases like urinary tract infections should consider taking women’s probiotic supplements. Probiotic supplements offer many benefits, including better digestion and pH balance, and also immunity boosts against certain infections.
Diet:
We all know diet plays a huge part in how we feel about ourselves. A poor diet can leave us feeling sluggish and bloated and can be the cause of weight gain along with skin problems and mental fatigue.
A great way to help you feel better is to eat a well balanced and varied diet. Start by making some small changes to your mealtimes such as adding extra vegetables or swapping to healthier cuts of meat, (if that’s your thing). Even drinking an extra glass of water with every meal will help set you off in the right direction!
Next, look at swaps you can make to your snacks and other drinks you consume. Add in some fruit too to your snacking along with healthy fats, such as those from nuts and seeds, and I guarantee you will start to notice a difference! Again, drinking more water can really give your body a boost as well, and is much healthier than fizzy, sugar-laden drinks.
Life as a mom isn’t easy but taking care of yourself is so important! Your kids need you and you’re not going to be much help if you are run down!
