How to Find Sleep Remedies When You’ve Tried Everything?

how to get better sleep

If you’re having trouble falling asleep at night and find it hard to stop your racing mind so you can drift into a peaceful slumber, you’re not alone. The truth is that more than 60 million people in the U.S. suffer from poor quality sleep. If you’ve been dealing with sleep problems for a while, you might be at the point where you feel like you’ve tried everything and nothing seems to be working.

However, giving some less common sleep remedies a chance might still be worth it. For instance, you can try taking melatonin supplements which promote better sleep. Some people turn to essential oils such as lavender and ylang-ylang, while others recommend trying CBD oil which comes in the form of many different products such as gummies or softgels. The way you eat also has a significant impact on the quality of your sleep.

So, if you haven’t done this before, it might be about time to implement some lifestyle changes and make sure your body gets all the nutrients it needs. With that being said, let’s dive into the subject of sleep remedies that might help you sleep well when nothing else seems to be working.

Try CBD Products

CBD comes in many forms, such as gummies or softgels, but no matter what form it comes in, it has been shown to provide many health benefits, including improving your sleep quality. CBD oil doesn’t contain THC or any other psychoactive ingredients, which means that you don’t have to worry about its mind-altering properties or being unfocused after using it.

Some people find that CBD oil helps them sleep better by improving the overall quality of their sleep, while others say it helps them fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. If it’s new to you and you don’t know where to start, you can try CBD softgels and capsules first. All you have to do is swallow them, and they are virtually tasteless, so there’s no need to worry about the earthy and a bit grass-like taste of pure CBD.

Consider Taking Melatonin Supplements

Melatonin is a hormone produced in the brain and helps regulate the body’s sleep-wake cycle. It’s often used as a natural sleep aid, especially for people who work night shifts or for those who need help with short-term sleep problems. Taking 3 mg of melatonin before bed for up to one month can result in decreased sleep onset latency (the duration of time from turning the light off to falling asleep), and increased total sleep time.

If you’re interested in taking melatonin supplements, it’s essential to speak with your doctor first to make sure they are right for you. The usual dosage range is 0.5 to 5 mg, and it’s generally recommended to start with a lower dose and increase it if needed. Melatonin supplements are available over the counter, but it’s always best to speak with a healthcare professional before starting any new supplement.

Use Essential Oils

Essential oils are the kind of sleep remedy that many people find helpful. These oils contain substances that promote relaxation and help relieve stress which can be beneficial for people who have trouble falling asleep. For instance, if you mix 5 drops of calming lavender essential oil with 2 drops of sandalwood essential oil, you get an oil blend that should help you stay relaxed and calm down enough so that you can fall asleep faster.

Applying lavender essential oil to different parts of your body, such as your temples, wrist, and neck area can also help you stay calm and less anxious during the day and, therefore, find it easier to fall asleep at night. Other oils that can help you relax include ylang-ylang, jasmine flower, and chamomile essential oils. You can try to rub these oils onto your skin, sprinkle them on your pillow, or use a diffuser or vaporizer.

Make Dietary Changes

Many people don’t realize that their diet can significantly impact their ability to fall asleep and sleep soundly through the night. For instance, if you eat foods rich in sugar or caffeine before going to bed, you’re more likely to experience sleep problems such as waking up at night and experiencing insomnia. This is because eating too many sweets or drinking too much coffee can cause your blood sugar levels and heart rate to spike, which makes it harder for your body to fall into nourishing slumber.

Additionally, your diet can affect your sleep because the food you consume can impact the quality of your gut bacteria, which impacts hormones that control your sleep-wake cycle. If you want to improve the quality of your sleep and stop waking up at night, start by making some dietary changes such as avoiding processed foods and getting rid of refined sugars from your diet. Replace them with healthier alternatives like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins.

Conclusion

If you’re having trouble falling asleep at night and don’t know what to do about it, many sleep remedies can help you get more quality rest and improve the overall quality of your life. For instance, using melatonin supplements can help you sleep faster and longer. Essential oils such as lavender and ylang-ylang can also promote relaxation and relieve stress. CBD oil may provide many health benefits which can help you get a better night’s sleep.

If nothing else seems to be working for you, try giving a chance to the remedies from the article above. As long as you’re doing everything in your power to get better sleep, you’re on the right track!
