Does hanging out in your office make you feel sedentary? If you’re like most and sit at your desk all day staring at screens, how could you not? From the lack of movement which leads to a higher risk in developing health conditions that could induce a heart attack or stroke, to eye issues from staring at a screen, there are many different health problems associated with working in an office environment that you should be aware of.
Fortunately, there are ways to avoid developing health problems from working in an office, and is what I’m here to help you with! So, let’s keep yourself healthy when working in the office and check out these tips!
Stand Up and Work
Sitting at a desk all day can make your back hurt, along with other parts of your body. Instead of spending most of your day sitting at your desk, why not opt for a standing desk and stay on your feet for as much of the day as possible? This will allow you to move around more easily so you won’t be as prone to health problems associated with sitting down all day.
Take Walking Meetings
If you need to have a meeting with anyone, why not take a walk together? Walking meetings are a great way of staying on point too. You’ll be more focused and you’ll get some exercise. And, not only will you be getting some exercise, but you’ll also be encouraging your co-workers or employees to get some much-needed exercise too.
Leave The Desk on Your Break
So often, in the workplace, people will eat their lunch at their desks. Not only are they not actually taking a break from their workload when they do this, but they are missing out on an opportunity to get some exercise.
Go for a walk on your break. Do anything you like, as long as you’re moving around.
Take Regular Breaks Away From the Screen
Staring at screens all day is not good for your eyesight. You’ll strain your eyes and this could cause you headaches and even cause permanent damage to your eyes.
Plan regular breaks away from your computer screen. If you need to wear blue-tinted glasses when working, then do it! Finally, be sure and visit your opticians regularly.
Have a Three Minute Workout
Exercising in three-minute bursts will boost your metabolism and give you energy. Short exercises will help to lower the stress that you might ordinarily be experiencing in your day-to-day working life while not leaving you too sweaty for your next meeting.
Think about doing bodyweight exercises such as squats, pushups, and jumping jacks.
Eat Healthier Office Snacks
Snacking is something that many people do while working in the office. It is a subconscious activity that seems to help many people to concentrate. But when picking your office snacks, it is essential that you choose low-fat, low-sugar, and low-salt snacks. Eating fresh fruit and nuts are the best options, although if you’re going for a snack pack, make sure it is full of essential nutrients like healthy fats, fiber, and protein.
