6 Things All Moms Should Know About Modern Cosmetic Procedures

Although being a mom is considered one of the most satisfying jobs, it can severely impact a woman’s appearance. Pregnancy, breastfeeding, sleep deprivation, and natural aging processes can tamper with a woman’s beauty. For this reason, many moms consider cosmetic procedures to regain their former bodies and look radiant as they age. So, what should mothers know before deciding to do cosmetic surgeries? Read on!

1) Getting the Right Surgeon is Vital

Since cosmetic surgery is not a simple thing, it’s crucial to find the right surgeon and perfect fit for the job. A professional surgeon with many years of experience is good at their craft and would always perform a better job. Expert surgeons, like those experienced in plastic surgery in Dallas, would also know what is best for you, not for them, and advise you accordingly.

So, before going under the procedure, do your due diligence on the surgeon you prefer to work with. Ensure they are certified by the plastic surgeon board and have plenty of experience in the area. Or you may want to consider Wave Plastic Surgery which has impressive customer reviews and feedback. They offer different plastic surgeries and have photos showcasing the same before and after. They also have several branches, making it easier for you to book an appointment.

2) Surgery is Not a Replacement for a Healthy Lifestyle

Cosmetic procedures cannot replace healthy living. Moms should know that eating healthy and being physically active are crucial aspects in coping with surgery risks and ensuring a successful operation. The ideal plastic surgery candidates are those at a healthy weight and physically fit. Being overweight or obese can interfere with the recovery process after surgery. Cosmetic surgeries are meant to fix imperfections that a good diet and exercise cannot.

So, instead of doing plastic surgery to remove excess fat and get to a healthy weight, first consider eating well and doing exercises to attain a healthy weight. Then you can do cosmetic surgeries that repair abdominal walls, get rid of loose skin, or increase breast size.

Again, healthy living is crucial after surgery. You don’t want to get the perfect body you’ve always wanted, only to lose it due to a poor lifestyle. Healthy living can speed up your recovery process and make healing easier for you. But what is more important is that it can help you maintain your new body.

3) Ensure You’re Done Having Kids

Most moms do plastic surgeries to take off the pregnancy’s after-effects. So, deciding to go under the cut while still having children doesn’t seem to make sense. Why?

A pregnancy can undo all that the surgery did. For example, if you had tummy surgery to strengthen it and get rid of loose skin, the tummy can stretch again when you carry a pregnancy to term. Similarly, you may have breastfeeding challenges if you had breast implants added by breast lifts or areola incision. However, some breast implants surgeries don’t interfere with breastfeeding like those added by making incisions under the breasts. Whatever the surgery type, it’s crucial to ensure you’re through with having children before going for cosmetic surgeries. When you are certain this is the case, consider seeing specialists in breast augmentation denver co or your local area.

4) You’ll Have to Take Time Off

Like any surgical operation, you may have a challenging period after the procedure. Although plastic surgeries can make you feel confident in your body, the initial recovery can be stressful and challenging to navigate through. You may experience post-surgeries blues or be unable to lift heavy things, including your kids. It’s recommended to steer clear of carrying objects heavier than 10 pounds for at least 4-6 weeks. When you lift heavy things, your chest and abdominal muscles become engaged, putting strain on the tummy and breasts.

This strain can make the incisions to reopen, slow down the healing process, widen your scars, or make scars more visible post healing. Moreover, doing strenuous activities after the procedure raises blood pressure, increasing your risk of internal bleeding.

So, ensure you schedule your surgery when it’s a pretty calm period in your family, when your children are away, whether in school, at relatives’ places, or camping. Or when it’s a slow time at work for your partner. You can also plan your procedure when your family or friends are available to assist you with transportation, housework, or childcare.

5) You Can Have Multiple Cosmetic Surgeries

With cosmetic procedures, you can decide to have one at a time or multiple at once. Getting several surgeries simultaneously has the advantage of having one recovery period. However, getting a tummy tuck, breast lift, and breast augmentation altogether may be pricey and not ideal for budget-conscious people. So, if you can comfortably have many procedures simultaneously, proceed and get things done. You will save yourself the time and several post-surgical blues of a single operation.

But if that’s not possible, you can have single surgeries starting with the ones addressing your top concerns, then let others follow. Some companies can show before and after for multiple surgeries, like Before & After Banobagi Plastic Surgery. This means you can be reassured that having them done at different times will still achieve the desired results. In addition, by going once to start, you’ll gather information about subsequent procedures, which can come in handy when the right time comes

6) Recovery Comes with Changes

Cosmetic surgeries recovery can come with changes and not pleasant ones. Although these changes are temporary, they can make a recovery painful. The first few days post-surgery are usually the hardest. You may experience swelling, body soreness and tightness, extreme fatigue, or constipation. You may also experience discomfort at your tummy tuck site if you still have the drains on to collect fluids, although the drains can be removed 7-10 days after the procedure.

It’s essential to note that post-surgery blues are a normal part of recovery, and this doesn’t mean the process was done by unqualified personnel. Or do you expect to feel “perfectly okay” after a tummy tuck and breast surgery procedures? Most likely not. You may leave the hospital feeling uncomfortable, wondering why you have put yourself through all that.

Besides swelling and pain, incisions are another change to consider after surgery. Many procedures in mommy makeovers cannot be done without leaving some marks or scarring. So, keep this in mind. However, most surgeons try to minimize or conceal incisions during the procedure and may offer you tips to aid in proper healing post-surgery.

Motherhood comes with significant changes, and there are only two ways to deal with them. One is to embrace the changes and live comfortably with them. The other option is to dedicate your energy, time, and cash to altering them through cosmetic surgeries.
