6 Healthy Juices You Can Make at Home

If you haven’t got yourself into juicing yet, then you should definitely try it! It is a fun and delicious way to ensure you consume plenty of healthy nutrients that will make you feel fantastic, but you need to understand the line between healthy and unhealthy. For example, you should never replace all your whole foods with juices, and you should always consume whole foods that are rich in fiber on a regular basis as part of a healthy diet and lifestyle. You also need to be careful with what you put into your juices. Many people pack it full of fruit because it’s sweet and tasty and they believe that it’s healthy. Although it is healthy to an extent, juices packed full of fruit are also full of sugar and can lead to weight gain and spikes in blood sugar levels. The key to healthy juices is balance and portion control, so here are six healthy recipes for you to try at home.

1) Eat Your Greens

This recipe consists of three ingredients: apple, cucumber and celery. Cucumber and celery are full of many essential nutrients and their high-water content makes them perfect for juicing. If you aren’t a fan of the taste of celery, then you could add a health supplement made from celery to ensure you get all the benefits of this healthy drink. The green apple adds a sweet twist to your juice.

2) Ginger Spice

If the spicy flavor of ginger is something you enjoy, then this recipe is perfect for you. Again, you only need three ingredients: ginger, carrot, and lemon. If you want to make the juice a little sweeter, then you can add some apple. This will work with the carrot to balance out the spice of the ginger and the lemon will add a bitter twist.

3) Go Tropi-Kale

Dark leafy greens are packed full of nutrients, so consuming these healthy nutrients to the taste of a tropical juice sounds like a dream. Well, now you can make it a reality. All you need is kale, pineapple, and banana. You may need to upgrade your juicer for this recipe as the kale leaves and banana can be difficult to juice properly using a centrifugal juicer.

4) Detox Time

This juice is packed full of antioxidants, which are extremely beneficial to our bodies. For this recipe, you need blueberries, strawberries, and beetroot. The sweetness from the berries helps to balance out the earthy flavor of the beets. You can swap the regular purple beets to sweeter and milder tasting golden beets if the purple ones are too strong for your liking.

5) Flu Fighter

If you aren’t feeling yourself or want to protect yourself from the flu that is circling the office, then give your immune system a boost with this simple recipe consisting of orange, lemon, and ginger. Ginger has many health benefits and is also known to reduce nausea. For an extra boost, you could add berries and immune system supplements to this recipe.

6) Even More Greens

For this juice, you will need a tart apple, kale, and spinach. This drink adds a healthy twist on traditional apple juice, by combining two different types of apple with nutrient-rich vegetables. Again, this vitamin-rich concoction may need an upgraded blender, as the centrifugal juicers are unlikely to deal with the spinach leaves very well.

With so many different combinations to try, starting your day off with a healthy juice can help you feel refreshed, revitalized and ready to start the day. When making any juice, ensure you aren’t adding extra fruit. It’s best to weigh out a portion before adding it to the blender because adding too much is how it starts to get unhealthy.
