If you are reading this, it’s because you want to learn how to increase your likelihood of getting pregnant with your significant other. Trust me, I’ve been there! While some couples may have no issues with fertility, there is an increasing number of people who experience problems. In fact, 1 in 10 women in the US have admitted to having problems with fertility, and this number is most likely even higher. The following tips and remedies are a great place to start in order to help you increase your chances of bringing a new life into this world.
1) Eat Foods That Are Rich in Antioxidants
Eating foods that are typically high in antioxidants such as raspberries, kale, red cabbage, and beetroot is important, as the antioxidants in these plants help to cancel out the effects of too many free radicals. In turn, this can improve the quality of the egg and make your cycles more predictable. You probably already have meals that contain some of the foods listed above, however, there are many more recipes out there which are specifically tailored to a “fertility diet” that you can use to make a tasty evening meal or a lunchtime snack.
2) Try Multivitamins
Multivitamins are important for everybody to use, but vitamins containing Folate are especially important when trying to conceive as they have been linked with increased fertility levels. One study found that women who took multivitamins had a 41% lower risk of infertility. Another study showed that even dietary supplements containing vitamins such as Vitamin E and B6 also increased chances of conception, although not as much as Folate did. Moreover, these vitamins are not only essential if you are looking to boost conception, but they are also vital during pregnancy. Thankfully, conception vitamins are easily attainable and are available at your local health food shop, drug store, or even online.
3) Alternative Medicine
The world of alternative medicine is vast, with various abstract techniques being used in many places around the world. This type of medicine claims to have a variety of positive effects on everything you can imagine – including fertility – and often stems from helping one to feel more relaxed and reducing their angst. Acupuncture is one of my top recommendations for increasing fertility, as it has actually helped me get pregnant after multiple miscarriages.
Cupping therapy is also highly recommended to increase fertility. This is because it is also believed to help with stress reduction and anxiety, two negative emotions that play a role in decreasing fertility. Although seen as a newer technique, cupping therapy actually dates back to ancient Egyptian and Chinese cultures and is often associated with a type of deep tissue massage.
There are many scientific studies that say that the build-up of stress can kill brain cells, leading to mental issues and even infertility. This is why it is also imperative that you do not allow yourself to get caught up in stressful or anxiety-inducing situations.
4) Keeping Fit and Healthy
One of the easiest and most widely proven ways to increase conception is by staying fit and healthy. While you have probably heard this numerous times, it truly is one of the best things you can do, especially since it benefits your overall wellbeing in the process. The statistics show that even moderate exercise can reduce the risk of ovulation problems and also decrease the risk of miscarriage. Some examples of what is meant by moderate exercise include brisk walking, water aerobics, cycling, or general gardening.
You can define moderate exercise by whether you can talk and have a conversation while doing the activity. Exercise such as running makes it much harder to talk, classifying it as a rigorous exercise. It is recommended that you pick up an exercise that will raise your heart rate, make you feel warmer, and cause you to breathe faster. All of this can help your ovulation frequency to increase, leading to a higher probability that you will be able to become pregnant. There is such a thing here as overdoing it though, and this in itself can be a cause of fertility problems, so do keep this in mind.
5) Quit Smoking
It is already well known that smoking has a plethora of negative effects associated with it, and decreased fertility is one of them. This isn’t only for the short term either but can affect your fertility for the rest of your life. One study showed that women who smoke are twice as likely to become infertile compared to those who don’t. Smoking is also the biggest cause of conception issues that can easily be changed. Quitting smoking will do wonders for your overall health too, which also increases fertility.
If you are wondering whether you can substitute typical cigarettes for e-cigarettes: this is also advised against. Although e-cigarettes were made as a better alternative to tobacco, they also have associated health issues that are not worth the risk.
These are just a few tips to help you in your endeavor to start a family with your significant other. While some of the things listed are harder to do than others, it is worth putting in the time to make sure that you have the highest chance of becoming pregnant with your spouse.
