FOR TODDLERS 2+, MOMS & MOMS-TO-BE
Usually when we are hungry we only have one thing on our minds – ourselves and how we our going to feed our growling stomach. But what if every time you fed yourself you were also benefiting someone else and helping to feed their hunger as well?
That’s the idea behind This Bar Saves Lives, because in
reality, that’s what you are doing. By feeding yourself you are indirectly
giving a packet of food to a child in need (through a third party non-profit).
By eating these bars you are literally doing good for both yourself, and
someone else. A win-win no matter how you look at it.
THE PRODUCT: This Bar Saves Lives is a brand of nutritional bars that are not only great tasting and good for you, they also help feed hungry children across the globe.
With their non-profit partner donating a meal every time a
bar is purchased, This Bar does much more than just quickly fulfilling your
Made with all natural, non-GMO, ethically sourced ingredients from the best farms right here in the US, these bars taste just as delicious as they are good for you. With wild blueberries from Maine, roasted pistachios from California, and clover honey from Wisconsin, This Bar and their 3 flavors, including: Dark Chocolate Cherry & Sea Salt, Madagascar Vanilla Almond & Honey, and Wild Blueberry Pistachio are sure to have you feeling good both inside and out.
NUTRITION-WISE: Made with 100% non-GMO ingredients, This Bar Saves Lives makes it a point to also use organic ingredients whenever possible. However, since many of the premium ingredients they use are difficult to source and prohibitively expensive in organic form [and they give away a packet of life-saving food for each bar sold], and the fact that they want to make sure their bars are actually affordable to buy, they can’t claim to be 100% organic. Their philosophy is to use real, whole-food ingredients that taste better than what you’ll find in other bars though, and as you’ll attest, they do a pretty darn good job.
This Bar Saves Lives is 100% vegetarian and does not contain any dairy. However, 2 of the 3 bars do contain a small amount of honey, so they cannot be considered vegan. Moreover, their bars do not incorporate any wheat or gluten containing ingredients, although the oats are processed on equipment that may also process wheat. So for those who are especially susceptible to gluten, it is best to be aware of this.
Coming in around 180 to 200 calories per bar, 60 to 100 of
which are from healthy fats, you will also find 4-6 grams of protein, roughly 3
grams of fiber, and 10-16 grams of sugar per serving. And while this is a bit
more sugar than I am generally wanting to eat in one sitting (or feed my little
guy for that matter), it’s a whole heck of a lot better than the other snack
foods that are out there. Plus, if you are anything like me and like to snack
on bits and pieces throughout the day, than the sugar intake really isn’t
enough to gawk at.
WHERE TO BUY: You can buy This Bar Saves Lives directly Online, or to find the retail location nearest you please visit their Store Locator.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Being a mom and having my own family, I will admit that I can get wrapped up in our own needs, worrying about what I am feeding them today, tomorrow, and sometimes even next week. However, there are many children around the world who truly don’t know where their next meal is coming from and if they will have anything at all to eat in the upcoming days. This truly breaks my heart and makes me think about what I can do now to help those in need.
And while I myself can’t personally go and feed these children, knowing that a simple purchase from This Bar Saves Lives will help nourish these kids inspires me to buy these bars if only for that very reason.
However, the fact that these bars also taste great and are good for me, make it that much easier to add them to my “snack stockpile” for both me and my family.
