MELT Organic: The Healthy Butter Alternative You Can’t Help But Eat with a Spoon

For MOMS,  MOMS-TO-BE, & BABIES 7 MONTHS+*

Butter is one of those foods that I haven’t eaten for pretty much as long as I can remember. It’s just always been one of those foods that I’ve tried to steer clear of, even before I went dairy-free. In fact, I used to prefer margarine as my “butter substitute” of choice, back before I knew how unhealthy that chemical-laden stuff was as well.

However, since I’ve become educated on different fats and the importance of having a combination of saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats in your diet, I’ve turned to coconut oil as my main “butter alternative”, and like to use olive, flax, hemp, and walnut oils on a pretty regular basis as well. I will admit that sometimes these fats just aren’t quite right for a specific recipe or spread though, and is probably why many people believe that there’s just “nothing quite like butter”.

Well, I’m here to tell you that since discovering MELT Organics, butter definitely has something to be worried about! I mean, they even have Honey and Chocolate flavors…

THE PRODUCT:
MELT Organic is a line of rich, creamy spreads that will make even the most avid butter-user rethink their old habits. Made from the Perfect Blend of organic oils, including fruit- and plant-based virgin coconut, flaxseed, hi-oleic sunflower, palm fruit, and canola oils, MELT Organic delivers an ideal combination of saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats for optimal nutrient content.

Each variety is Certified USDA Organic, and is also non-GMO Project Verified and Kosher Pareve. They are also made with Fair Trade Fair For Life Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Rainforest Alliance Certified Organic Palm Fruit Oil. Furthermore, MELT Organic spreads are dairy free, soy free, trans-fat free, and gluten free. Plus, each of their naturally sweetened MELT spreads (Honey and Chocolate) contain a mere 1 gram of sugar per serving, and none of their products contain hydrogenated oils or artificial ingredients of any kind.

Available in Rich & Creamy (original), Honey, and Chocolate, MELT not only contains half the saturated fat and fewer calories than butter does, but it spreads, sizzles, drizzles, bakes and melts just like butter, so you can literally use it 1-for-1 in any recipe you can think of.

NUTRITION-WISE: As mentioned, MELT Organic spreads are all Certified USDA Organic, and are Non-GMO Project Verified and Kosher Pareve, as well. They are also made with Fair Trade Fair For Life Certified Organic Virgin Coconut Oil and Rainforest Alliance Certified Organic Palm Fruit Oil, and are dairy free, soy free, trans-fat free, and gluten free. Plus, none of their products contain hydrogenated oils, preservatives, or artificial ingredients of any kind.

Using Organic Virgin Coconut Oil as the primary ingredient, MELT actually helps your body burn fats as energy, instead of storing them, thanks to their rich source of Medium Chain Fatty Acids (aka: MCFAs, the ‘good fats’). MCFAs are recognized as good fats because they are readily absorbed, easily digested and converted to energy. In fact, research shows the MCFAs in Virgin Coconut Oil can boost metabolism, promote healthy weight, increase thyroid activity, strengthen the heart, protect the liver from the toxic effect of drugs and alcohol, support the healing of digestive disorders, and are vital for absorbing nutrients like Omega-3s and Vitamins E, A, D, and K.

You will also find palm fruit oil (as opposed to the controversial palm kernel oil), flaxseed oil, hi-oleic sunflower oil and canola oil in MELT spreads, all of which are 100% Organic and non-GMO, and provide a wide array of nutrients, including high levels of Omega-3s, monounsaturated fats, and Vitamin E. This “Perfect Blend” combination provides your body with just the right amount of saturated, polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats, as well as Omega 3s vs. Omega 6s, which is a real problem in today’s society, causing inflammation, disease, etc. Plus, eating MELT even helps supports a healthy weight when replacing other dietary fats in your daily diet.

Coming in at only 80 calories per serving (for all 3 flavors), and containing only half the saturated fat as butter does, each of the naturally sweetened MELT spreads (Honey and Chocolate varieties) contain a mere 1 gram of sugar per serving, as well.

Now compare all of these nutritious benefits of MELT to the unhealthful characteristics of margarine – and virtually all other butter substitutes – that contain either hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, and that have been linked to obesity, heart disease, type II diabetes, and other deadly illnesses, and you’ll quickly see what an easy choice it is to start using MELT on a daily basis.

*Since both Honey MELT® Organic and Chocolate MELT® Organic products contain honey, you should not give them to children under 1 year of age due to the potentially fatal bacteria known as botulism. However, the Original flavor is completely vegan, and is safe to give to your littles as soon as they start eating solids.

WHERE TO BUY: You can conveniently purchase MELT Organics directly from their Online Store, or to find the retail location that sells them nearest you, please visit their Store Locator.

FINAL THOUGHTS:
Finding a healthy – and just as importantly, delicious – butter substitute is not an easy feat, especially when asking someone who has doused their food in butter the last 65+ years of their life (I won’t name any names here, but my MIL knows who I’m talking about… ☺). And even for those who just like their baked goods moist, and their potatoes perfectly sautéed, it can be hard to convince certain people that there are other reliable oils and fats that can be used to make your food taste just as good – while not containing all of the crap that butter and other butter substitutes do.

To me, that substitution has been coconut oil, as I love it in, with, or on pretty much every food that I have tried to combine it with. However, I do understand that this doesn’t work for everyone, especially for those who love to see that “yellow” color.

Well look no further – seriously! MELT Organic spreads are extremely delicious, and best of all, they are good for you too! Made with a mix of Organic oils, and containing nothing artificial whatsoever, MELT literally can go on or in just about anything as it measures 1-to-1 compared with butter, melts and spreads just like better, and really does taste even better! Just ask the “un-mentioned” woman above.

Plus, there is even a Honey flavor and a Chocolate one, so you really can enjoy them with any food you can conjure up! And I won’t judge if you want to eat them straight out of the container with a spoon… I’ll admit, it’s hard not to.

Try any or all of MELT Organic Spreads today and see for yourself how easy it is to never want to use butter again!
