Manitoba Harvest – Organic Hemp Hearts and Protein from their Heart to Yours

Having a well-rounded diet is extremely important. Carbs, protein and healthy fats should ideally be a part of every meal. Especially as a pregnant or nursing mom, having enough of these vital nutrients is a must, not the least of which is protein. Growing babies need protein to build strong and healthy muscles, and the only way for them to get it is through what you consume.

However, I can admit that getting enough protein isn’t always easy, especially when you factor in the additional you need for your growing child. I mean, how many of us actually crave meat or beans at 10 o’clock at night or want to eat eggs every day for breakfast?

Now factor in the idea that these protein sources should be Organic… As an expectant mom, or one who is nursing, Organic versions of our favorite protein sources really is the best way to go (as to avoid any additional chemicals, antibiotics, etc. that conventional protein sources are often laden with).

Thankfully Manitoba Harvest has come up with Hemp Hearts – and Organic versions at that – which are full of healthy fats and protein and taste great no matter what you put them on. Available in a variety of package sizes and “formulations”, Organic Hemp Hearts and Organic Hemp Heart Protein are perfect whether at home or on the go, to help ensure that your well-rounded meal is only a sprinkle away.

THE PRODUCT: Manitoba Harvest is the creator of both Organic Hemp Hearts and Organic Hemp Protein Powders, which come in a variety of flavors.

Organic Hemp Hearts are tiny, soft-textured seeds that taste a bit like sunflower seeds or pine nuts, but are used more like flax seeds would be. Great sprinkled on your morning cereal, in a smoothie, baked in breads, on a salad, or even plain out of the bag (since there is no need to grind them), each serving contains tons of protein, healthy Omega fats, and even fiber.

Manitoba Harvest’s Organic Hemp Protein Powders are also filled with tons of protein and Omega fats, and with their Organic Hemp Pro Fiber version, an extra boost of fiber as well. Or if you prefer Vanilla or Chocolate flavors, they have that too!

Made in a hemp-dedicated facility by dehulling non-GMO seeds, Manitoba Harvest Organic Hemp Hearts are certified Organic, all-natural and contain no additives, fillers or preservatives and once shelled, are immediately packaged to seal in the freshness. Plus, their “hemp only” facility does not process any dairy, soy, nut or gluten products so those with food allergies can enjoy them as well.

NUTRITION-WISE: Per serving, Hemp Hearts contain 10g of easy to digest protein and 10g of Omegas, which are delivered in an ideal ratio of Omega-6 to Omega-3‘s, including the rare EFA known as Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA). Testimonials have shown that GLA alone helps with arthritis, joint mobility, eczema, hormonal balance, migraines, menopause in women, healthy cholesterol & blood pressure levels, and even weight management.

They also contain vitamins, chlorophyll, fiber, calcium, and are rich in folic acid.

Manitoba’s Organic Hemp Protein Powders are also chock full of protein, Omega’s, and fiber, ranging between 9-11 grams of protein, and 10-13 grams of fiber. Coming in at around 130 calories per serving, 4 grams of which are from fat, each serving gives you a healthy dose of good-for-you nutrients that are great for your body and easy on your waist-line.

Partnering with farmers to deliver seeds directly to their state-of-the-art, certified facility, Manitoba Harvest removes the hemp seed’s hard outer shell to bring you the most nutritious part - the inner kernel (aka the hemp heart).

Hemp Hearts are tested for quality then sealed in a modified atmosphere package to lock in the freshness. Moreover, all of their packaging has the “packaged on” and “best before” dates to ensure you’re getting the highest quality product every time you buy a bag.

WHERE TO BUY: You can purchase Organic Hemp Hearts and Organic Hemp Protein directly from their website, or to find the retail location nearest you, check out their Store Locator

FINAL THOUGHTS: The more I’ve learned about nutrition throughout the years, the more I have come to realize the importance of a well-balanced diet and that eating a healthy mix of carbs, protein and fats at every meal is the ideal. And as a (recently) expectant mom, and now a nursing one, I now appreciate the need for Organic options more so than ever. However, I also know that this is much easier said than done, especially when avoiding processed foods that claim to “have it all”.

Thankfully there are products like Manitoba’s Organic Hemp Hearts and Protein powders that not only taste great, but are also extremely nutritious and give you a healthy amount of protein and fat to help your body run at its best.
