5 Ways to Show More Love – TIP #6

5 Ways to Show More Love – TIP #6

Healthy Habits to Help Make 2018 Your Healthiest Year Yet!

In lieu of Valentine’s Day this week, I wanted to make this Newsletter all about love. And not just the lovey-dovey, sappy kind that card companies swindle all your money for. I’m talking about true love – in so many different ways!

So without further ado, here are 5 reasons that you should add more love into your life.

1) LOVE YOURSELF

There’s no way you are going to love another if you don’t love yourself first. This doesn’t just mean your physical appearance either, but rather your whole being. In fact, I’ll talk about your body in a second, so let’s just focus on the inner layers here. How you conduct yourself; if you’re an introvert or extrovert; if you enjoy reading on the weekends or socializing with friends. Accept yourself for who you are and what you’ve become. Truly love yourself [first] – and then make room for others.

2) LOVE YOUR FAMILY

I know we are not all blessed with a “perfect” family dynamic like that of Parenthood, and our families can truly get on our nerves at times; and then some of us have family members that, frankly, just plain suck. Fortunately there’s more to family then just our blood relatives. If you have a family that you are totally into, that’s the best-case scenario. But do you show and/or tell them how much you love them on a consistent basis?!

If you don’t get along with your family, or care to be around them, for whatever reason, then your friends can be your family. I like to say that ‘friends are the family that we choose’ – so treat them this way! Let them know how much they mean to you and you’ll quickly see how this will help your friendships flourish. We all need to know that we are loved.

3) LOVE YOUR BODY

Ok, so here is where I start to talk about the physical aspect of you. And while this can mean the long legs you were blessed with or the gorgeous eyes that everyone comments on, I’m especially referring to what you may consider your flaws – or even battle scars. Embrace those freckles that are splattered across your nose, or the fact that your smile is slightly off centered. These are the traits that make you you – and no one else is exactly like you, so take pleasure in that! Especially after having a baby, your body is going to change, so find satisfaction in those stretch marks or those love handles that never seemed to go away – because that amazing body of yours grew a baby!!

By loving your body I also mean to take care of it. Show pride in it like you would a new car, or new pair of Louboutins! Eat healthy, exercise. Thank your body for being able to go on that jog, or even for getting you through a long day of chasing kids and cleaning up messes. Your body deserves love too!

4) LOVE YOUR JOB

While I know we don’t all love what we do, anyone can find at least something that they love about their jobs. Whether you work full time or are a stay-at-home mom, your are still a hard worker, so give yourself some credit! Now think about your work situation: maybe you are sooo over being an Accountant, but you met your best friend at your office; or you hate going on sales calls but those commissions have allowed you to travel the world; or maybe you despise the fact that you have to clean up after messy, ungrateful kids all day, but hey, you get to be home with them and watch them grow, and see all of those amazing milestones that many parents never get to see… Appreciate these things and look at how great your job is to give you these chances, these moments, these memories.

5) LOVE YOUR PARTNER

I know we can all get annoyed with our partner/spouse/SO every now and again, but they are the ones that have our backs. [In many instances] they are the ones working hard to provide for you and your family. Yes, they may work long hours and not help with the kids’ nighttime routine, or they never seem to appreciate the hard work that you do to raise your kids the best way you know how, but deep down, they try… They are with you because they love you, and they deserve to see that love in return.

I know it’s easy to get into a routine, a pattern, and to take each other for granted, but just a simple “I appreciate you”, “I love you”, or “thank you for working so hard” can really go a long way to help build up your relationship. And so can date night! Never stop dating your spouse! Make time for just the two of you and truly appreciate every moment. This is what makes relationships last. And communication and honesty of course J.
